Water Test Result
(Email from Soma)
We had our water tested yesterday for contaminants by
a water filtration company .
We were referred to this company called RainSoft
through Home Depot. The sales guy came in with all the testing equipment
required for various tests. He had a long list of tests and then he would
recommend RainSoft products for water treatment
based on the results. After the first 3 tests, he told us that the water we
have here is very good(mildly hard). In the last two
years of his testing, he said there was one other place,Gilberts, IL where the water was softer than the one
we have. He was surprised by the results (since it is well water) and
said that the water is much much better than the lake
water in surrounding cities. He said he lives in
So he did not feel the need to do any more
tests. Radon testing was not part of his test though.
He also tested our bottled water (crystal geyser
brand) and the bottled water results were very close to our tap water
only slightly better.
Some interesting things he pointed out:
1. Ice mountain is the worst of all the bottled
water he has tested .
2. The best bottled water according to his tests
is an inexpensive brand sold at Aldi
3. Aquafina topped in known
brands.
Before he left, he said that it is very rare that he
leaves a home without recommending some type of water treatment
solution but in our case he told us we could start using tap
water directly for everything. It would be interesting to compare
results if anyone else in the community had done similar tests.
Hope this helps.
Soma.

(Additional comments by amrit) We've had similar findings -- we've
been told our water is pretty soft. (Apparently they soften it quite a bit at
the treatment stage.) We tested our water hardness ourselves and got similar
results as noted by Soma. We've been drinking the water freely.
